Your writing is yours

What we collect

• Your account: your email address and your password, which is stored in a form nobody - including us - can read back.
• What you choose to add: a pen name, an avatar and your timezone, so your writing streak counts days in your own evening.
• Your writing: your novels, their text, your goals and a daily record of your word count, which is what your progress and streaks are made of.
• The social side: friend requests, the cheers you send, and the badges you earn.
• If you subscribe to Premium: your plan and whether it is active or cancelled. Your card details go to our payment provider and never reach us.
• If you write to us: your message and the name and email address you give, so we can reply.
• To keep accounts safe: failed sign-in attempts and the IP addresses that visit the site, kept for a short time.

How we use it

To run WrimoForge for you, keep your account secure, send the emails you ask for - a code to reset your password, for instance - and answer your messages. That is all. We don't send newsletters or marketing email, and we don't use analytics, advertising or tracking of any kind.

Who can see your writing

Nobody can read your manuscripts but you. Friends see numbers, never words.

• Other writers can find you by your pen name, or by your email address if they already know all of it. They see your pen name and avatar, not your email address.
• Writers whose friend request you accept can see your pen name, avatar, level, streak, word counts, and the titles and progress of your novels. Not your email address.
• There are no public profiles.

Services we use

A few outside services help run WrimoForge, and each gets only what its job needs:

• Stripe processes Premium payments. It handles your card details under its own privacy policy, and receives nothing about your writing.
• Resend delivers the emails you ask for. It receives your email address and that message.
• avataaars.io draws your avatar. It sees your IP address and the look you picked, and nothing else.
• Our hosting provider stores the data above on our behalf.

Cookies

Only the ones needed to keep you signed in. They last up to 90 days, or until you close your browser if you untick “Remember me”, and signing out clears them. There are no advertising or analytics cookies, and none from anyone else.

Keeping and deleting

• We keep your information for as long as you have an account - a streak and a word history only mean something if they are kept.
• Deleting a novel takes it off your shelf straight away. We hold on to it so it can be restored if you ask, until you delete your account.
• Deleting your account - from your Profile, at any time - removes it and everything in it, including novels you had deleted. A Premium subscription is cancelled first. Messages you sent us are kept so we can finish answering them, and Stripe keeps its own record of past payments.
• Copies in our backups are cleared within about two weeks.
• If you can't sign in, ask us to delete your account and we will.
• Ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, or to correct it, and we will send it.

For adults

WrimoForge is for people 18 and older. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone younger; if we learn that we have, we delete the account.

Security

We use industry-standard protections, including encrypted connections, and we keep what we collect to a minimum. No system is perfect: if you find a problem, please tell us first.

Changes, and how to reach us

If what we collect or share changes, this page changes with it and the date at the top moves. Questions, a deletion request, a copy of your data or a security report all go through the contact form. You don't need an account to use it.
